4.) Monday’s HR candidate forum canceled
Monday’s open forum with a candidate for the associate vice president for human resources has been canceled. Please watch UofL Today for updates on the search.
5.) Food trucks to be among dining options beginning Aug. 22
UofL Dining Services is adding food trucks to the lunch options for faculty, staff and students on Belknap Campus this fall. Trucks will be open Monday-Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the Duthie Center, College of Business and Humanities/Shumaker Research Building. This week’s offerings include Smokin’ Taco Truck near Duthie and Mark’s Feed Store near the College of Business. Zoom Zoom Yum, Celtic Pig, the Traveling Kitchen and Red Top Dogs will rotate near Shumaker. All vendors will accept cash, credit and flex points.

6.) Ekstrom Library and SGA Partner to extend hours in library’s east side
A partnership between the University Libraries and SGA will keep Ekstrom Library’s east side open until 2 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for the 2016 fall semester. The extended hours were requested by the Libraries Student Advisory Board and SGA, which is funding the pilot program. Previously the east side closed at midnight on Sunday through Thursday. Hours will remain the same for Friday and Saturday.

7.) COSW sponsorship: Annual Conference for Pre-Tenure Women
The Commission on the Status of Women will sponsor an attendee to the 2016 Annual Conference for Pre-Tenure Women at Purdue University. Submit an email containing a brief biosketch and reasons for attending to Debbie Dougherty by Friday, August 26.

8.) Reconciliation of sponsored research accounts and audit preparedness training available
Aug. 24, 10 a.m., K2024, HSC; Aug. 25, 10 a.m., 201 MITC, Belknap Campus
Brigitte H. Fasciotto, Grants Review Specialist with the EVPRI, will provide monthly training on reconciliation of sponsored research accounts and incorporate lessons learned from internal reviews and external audits to educate participants on the regulations, policies, and documentation requirements in order to be in compliance with federal regulations and to be better prepared in case of an audit. This training targets UBMs and administrators that manage sponsored research accounts. Dates and time for September-December 2016 have also been scheduled.

9.) Lab Safety/Hazardous Waste and Radiation Safety Training available
August 24, 9-11:45 a.m., Room 2034, K-wing (Nursing School), HSC Campus; Free
Recently hired lab employees who work with chemicals should attend the lab safety/hazardous waste session. Individuals who will begin working with or around radioactive materials should attend the radiation safety orientation session, which starts immediately after lab safety. Please register for the class online, clicking on classroom training and select the appropriate class or classes to sign up.

10.) Get Healthy Now with Weigh to Wellness Classes
Now through Nov. 2, 12-12:30 p.m.; Tuesdays, Room 103, Humanities Building, Belknap Campus; Wednesdays, Room 2022, Nursing/K-wing Building HSC Campus; Free for UofL employees, retirees and their spouse/QA
It’s not too late to register for Weigh to Wellness, a 12-week class that promotes healthy lifestyle changes through physical activity and improved nutrition. The class is designed to give you an accurate understanding of ways to integrate optimal health behaviors into your everyday life. Walk-ins are welcome.

11.) Make Meatless Monday a family affair
Getting your whole family to join you for Meatless Monday is great, but sometimes kids aren’t eager to eat more vegetables or experiment with new foods. When kids pitch in making meals, they’re proud of their accomplishment and excited to eat the food they’ve helped make. The more educated kids are about food the more open they’ll be to healthy, sustainable food choices.
