    1.) FAA Sound Testing to begin today

    The FAA has approved the university’s request for testing additional buildings, which were previously excluded due to their locations. As a result, five buildings will be tested beginning this week from approximately 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The following tentative schedule for the sound testing has been established: Aug. 10, W.S. Speed; Aug. 11, Ford Hall; Aug. 12, Baptist Student Union; Aug. 13, Ekstrom Library & Teaching Labs; Aug. 14, Wilson Wyatt Hall.

    2.) Openings remain for Delphi U Online Fall 2016

    Sept. 12-Nov. 6; Online; Free

    Openings still remain for the fall offering of Delphi U Online. Get many of your questions and concerns about online courses answered in this 8-week-long workshop. Participants will learn two primary concepts: What it is like to be an online learner and how to effectively teach online. This is for full and part-time faculty planning to teach a new fully online course or enhance an online course between Fall 2016 and Fall 2017. Registration is now open, so apply now.

    3.) Campus Housing move-in day volunteers needed

    August 16, 8:30 a.m. to noon; August 17, 8:30-11:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. or 1:30-4:30 p.m.; all residence halls

    Campus Housing is excited to welcome more than 2,000 first-year students moving into the residence halls on our two Move-In Days on Aug.16 and Aug. 17. Help get our new students settled into their new campus homes. All registered volunteers will be provided a free lunch.

    4.) Update Link/Mobile Scheduling: 25Live room/event scheduling system

    August 12, 8 a.m.

    The Webviewer services for the 25Live room/event scheduling system will be disabled on August 12 at 8 a.m. Please update the link on your website or computer favorites to 25Live.louisville.edu. Also, the latest update to the 25Live system includes a Mobile Scheduling System so you can easily schedule events on your tablet or smartphone by going to the above link and entering your event information.

    5.) School of Medicine Extramural Grant Reception next week

    School of Medicine & HSC faculty, research staff and students are invited to celebrate the School of Medicine extramural research grant award recipients during the March through June 2016 period. This event is hosted by the School of Medicine Vice Dean for Research, Dr. Jon Klein.

    6.) Save the date for UofL’s 2nd annual Thank a Donor Day

    Sept. 27, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., West Plaza/Red Barn; Sept. 29, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., HSC Quad

    UofL’s 2nd annual Thank a Donor Day event, hosted by the Office of Donor Relations, is Sept. 27 at the West Plaza/Red Barn and Sept. 29 at the HSC Quad.  The purpose is to say thank you to our donors who support UofL through private donations. During this celebration of philanthropy, UofL’s alumni, faculty, staff, and students will sign a large sign and create a video. Take a look at last year’s video.

    7.) Participants needed for blood draw study

    IRB # 15.0856; Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m., HSC

    UofL’s School of Medicine and the American Heart Association Tobacco Research and Addiction Center are conducting a study that will use blood to study the effects of flavoring added to both tobacco products and e-cigarettes. The study is recruiting healthy unmedicated adults (18-40 years of age) who have never used tobacco. One visit that will last approximately 30 minutes with one blood draw of less than 2 TBSP. Participant compensation will be $30 as a Swift pre-paid card.
