1.) NEW AWARD – Nominations being accepted for the inaugural 2015 Presidential Exemplary Multicultural Engagement Staff Award
Deadline for nominations is April 24. Deadline for candidate’s form and statement is May 26.
The Commission on Diversity and Racial Equality (CODRE) is accepting nominations for the Presidential Exemplary Multicultural Engagement Staff Award. This is the first year for the staff award and it will provide an opportunity to recognize full- and part-time university staff who have made notable accomplishments and commitments in the area of multicultural engagement while advancing the university’s diversity goals.

The Presidential Exemplary Multicultural Teaching Award is designed to affirm, value, honor and recognize members of the university teaching staff who have incorporated multicultural and global perspectives into their scholarship, teaching practices and research.

3.) Pathways Women’s Leadership Conference registration open

The 3rd annual UofL Pathways Women’s Leadership Conference registration is now open. The conference lasts a full day. The program will include presentations by local and national leaders with a focus on strength in leadership. 6.) Nominations being accepted for the 2015 undergraduate research grant opportunities
Deadline: April 30
CODRE and the Office of the EVPRI offer diversity grants for UofL minority undergraduate students conducting research in the areas of science, technology, engineering and/or math and for UofL undergrads to conduct research in areas that impacts populations that are diverse, under-served, under-represented and/or vulnerable. Any student research project submitted for funding must have UofL faculty supervision and institutional approval.

7.) Nominations being accepted for the 2015 graduate student grant opportunities announced
Deadline: April 30
This initiative will focus on supporting UofL graduate student research that targets diverse, underserved, under-represented and/or vulnerable populations. We expect to award three projects (for a max of $1,000 each). Any student research project submitted for funding must have UofL faculty supervision and appropriate institutional approval. Research projects can come from any discipline represented at UofL.

To celebrate the 45th anniversary of Earth Day, UofL is providing you two opportunities to get outside today and plant something positive! At noon, all are welcome to join us at the SAC Ramp to plant sunflowers along the railroad tracks that cut through campus. Then, at 3 p.m., come on over to the Garden Commons at the Cultural Center for a free workshop on Getting Back to the Land with Sustainable Gardening led by UofL’s own sustainability coordinator, Justin Mog. This Earth Day, DO SOMETHING!
