    The Kentucky Pollution Prevention Center was established in 1994 as a state-mandated technical assistance resource center. It is part of the J.B. Speed School of Engineering and offers resources, expertise and staff to help Kentucky’s businesses, industries and other organizations stay environmentally sustainable and competitive.

    Parking information for Thunder Over Louisville
    Parking & Transportation Services fields requests each year from the university community asking if permit holders will be permitted to view the air show and fireworks display on Saturday, April 22, from the roofs of the parking garages. The garages were not designed for assembly purposes and large gatherings. They were designed solely for parking cars. When vehicles are parked throughout the floors they are parked in such a manner to evenly distribute the weight load. For purposes of assembling, people tend to move to the rails of the garage placing an enormous amount of weight at this one location. In addition to not being designed structurally for assembly use, the garages do not have adequate restrooms and other code requirements for large group gatherings. Garages will be available for permit parking only on Saturday, April 22. University Police and Security personnel will monitor the activity in the garages. Thank you for your cooperation.

    Faculty/staff discussion leaders needed for Welcome Week
    Discussion leaders and student co-leads will engage new students in small-group conversation about the Book-in-Common, “Hidden America.” All leaders receive a comprehensive, event-specific facilitation guide and copy of the book.     2014 Blackboard Courses to be deleted
    Blackboard courses from Fall 2014, Spring 2014, and Summer 2014 semesters will be archived and deleted after Wednesday, May 24. This process affects courses with IDs ending in 4148, 4145 and 4142, e.g. ACCT-101-02-4148. This is a process completed by the Delphi Center to free up server space for new courses. If you have a specific need to keep an impacted course available beyond May 24, please submit a request onlineby May 19 (ULink credentials are required). The Course Sites and Course Content Retention Policy is available online.

    Tegrity will no longer be available after May 10, 2017
    UofL has selected a new lecture capture partner to replace Tegrity. Tegrity will no longer be available as of May 10, 2017. The new system, Panopto, is currently available for all users with a Ulink account and can be used in online, face-to-face, or hybrid courses. Beginning in late April, all Tegrity recordings created after January 1, 2015 will be imported into Panopto. If you wish to save recordings created prior to January 1, 2015, send an email

    This conference brings together academics, health care and social service professionals, and older adults across a variety of disciplines who are united by a belief that aging is an opportunity, not a disease.     2017 Celebration of Excellence in Graduate Diversity
    The Celebration of Excellence in Graduate diversity event is scheduled for Friday, April 28 in Chao Auditiorium from 3-5 p.m., where we will be recognizing our underrepresented graduate students. The purpose of this event is to celebrate the milestones of our underrepresented graduate student population in an intimate setting and will be shared with those who helped them succeed.

    Lighten Your Load event today
    April 20, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Red Barn/SAC Plaza
    Campus Housing is hosting the annual “Lighten Your Load” event. Those in attendance have the opportunity to peruse the display tables with donated clothes as well as other household items from our Residence Halls and participate in our free stuff swap. This location will also be used as a drop-off zone for anyone to discard items. All donated items are redistributed throughout local Goodwill stores.

    University of Louisville Libraries website changes underway
    The University of Louisville Libraries website has recently undergone some changes, including all new sites for the Bridwell Art Library and the Dwight Anderson Memorial Music Library. There are also improved scheduling apps for room reservations and research appointments. In March, a new site for Archives and Special Collections was introduced.     Pop-up parade for social justice

    This Pop-Up Parade for Social Justice is being produced by students in the courses Cultures of America and Transgender Studies. The Pop-Up component gives us all a chance to evaluate our readiness to mobilize, what obstacles may come up to mobilizing, and how we can support other people’s readiness in an empowering way. Organizations, communities, and individuals on campus can attend and/or participate.

    Knowing the Facts About Identity Theft sessions scheduled at HSC
    April 21, 2:30-4 p.m., Kornhauser Library, Auditorium 103, 500 S. Preston St.
    HR will host Knowing the Facts About Identity Theft sessions on the HSC campus Friday through our EAP vendor, Human Development. Identity theft is defined as the fraudulent acquisition and use of a person’s private identifying information, typically for financial gain. The session will outline the various risks, preventive measures, and strategic processes to resolve the aftermath, should you become a victim. No registration required.

    2017 Grawemeyer Award in Psychology winner to discuss Dialectical Behavior Therapy
    April 20, 12 p.m., Middleton Auditorium, Strickler Hall
    Psychology professor Marsha Linehan will present “Dialectical Behavior Therapy: Where We Are, Where We Were and Where We’re Going.” She developed the award-winning therapy to treat chronically suicidal patients and extended its power to help people with borderline personality disorder and other behavioral disorders. Research has shown the therapy to be effective for conditions previously considered untreatable.

    Dr. Loren Buck, Associate Director of the Center for Bioengineering Innovation at Northern Arizona University, will give a Biology Department Brown & Williamson Distinguished Speaker Series seminar on April 21 at noon. The title of Dr. Buck’s talk is, “Persistence, entrainment and function of biological rhythms across the Polar Day and Polar Night.”

    The UofL Infant Cognition Lab (Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences) is conducting several studies on infant face perception. Infants who are between 3 and 8 months old with normal vision and hearing are invited to participate. Participation involves one brief visit to campus.
