    Graduate students—dress in your Derby best and come celebrate the end of the semester with live horse racing at Churchill Downs. Graduate students can register themselves and one guest for free admission; register additional friends and family for $5 per person. See you at the races.

    2.) Grand Opening for GHN Wellness Center at Humana Gym today

    Come celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Get Healthy Now Wellness Center at Humana Gym. Inaugural ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by an all-day event featuring facility tours, equipment and fitness demonstrations, door prizes and healthy fare from the University Club (11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.).     3.) New grant opportunity
    Passport Health Plan has announced a sixth cycle of funding for the research and demonstration projects initiative titled Improved Health Outcomes Program (iHOP). The iHOP Cycle VI program is seeking proposals from groups and individuals for initiatives that improve quality, access, efficiency and cost of health care for Medicaid recipients and uninsured individuals in the 16 counties the plan serves. Letters of intent must be received by May 15.

    6.) Researcher notification
    During emergencies, laboratories may lose power or be adversely impacted in some other way. If you work in a laboratory and wish to be notified of any lab buildings that are affected, you can sign up for a free notification.     7.) iTech Xpress offers book on 2012-13 men’s basketball season
    Attention UofL basketball fans. A new book, “Unbreakable,” highlights the 2012-13 Cardinal men’s basketball season all the way to the NCAA National Championship victory. Written, photographed and produced entirely by the Louisville Cardinal staff, “Unbreakable” includes a bonus section on the women’s run to the Final Four. The book is now available for $14.95 at iTech Xpress, located on the lower level of Miller IT Center.

    8.) Gold Standard Award for Optimal Aging
    Who inspires you to anticipate later life with confidence & joy? Do you know someone age 85 or older making the most of their later years, continuing to love life and, despite constraints, continuing to engage? UofL Geriatrics is accepting nominations for the Gold Standard Award for Optimal Aging. Nominations may be made online. The award will be presented at luncheon 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at Crowne Plaza Hotel, 830 Phillips Lane.

    9.) Mathematics Colloquium
    1 p.m. April 19, Room 212D Natural Sciences Building
    Free
    Dustin Moody from National Institute of Standards and Technology will speak about Isogenies, Volcanoes, and Edwards Curves. Isogeny volcanoes, connected components of a larger graph, are an interesting structure that have had several recent applications in cryptography. Moody will explore properties of and how to compute volcanoes. He will also introduce new formulas for computing isogenies on Edwards curves, which are a new model for elliptic curves, different than the Weierstrass model.
