    DID YOU KNOW?

    The UofL Photographic Archives is hosting a new exhibition, “Those Who Let Me In,” by former Courier-Journal and Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Jay Mather through June 1. The exhibit includes 59 photographs taken largely in the Kentuckiana region. An artist reception will be held April 21 from 5-7 p.m.

    8.) Finals Fest: Paws for Finals

    Stressed out over finals? Take a quick break with FYI, various campus partners, and Louisville Metro Animal Services. Adorable dogs will be on hand for you to play with during your study break and free snacks will be available. Also, dogs are adoptable for any faculty/staff interested.

    Encourage your students to take a break from studying and join FYI, SAB, REACH, and Health Promotions for free BBQ and study tips. Also, look out for the mobile coffee cart that will be going floor to floor in Ekstrom to serve coffee for long study sessions. Starting at 6 p.m. there will also be free massages and a live stream of the UL vs UK baseball game in Chao Auditorium.

    11.) Registration open for 2016 Faculty/Staff Open Walls exhibit

    Registration due June 1

    The annual show for faculty and staff is scheduled for June 13 to June 30 in the Photographic Archives gallery at Ekstrom Library. The exhibit is an opportunity for UofL employees who are not professional or exhibited artists to share their work. All media (i.e., painting, photography, woodworking, mixed media, fiber arts, jewelry, crafts) will be accepted.

    12.) Women’s Football Clinic raises money for local charities

    Join us for the 2016 Women’s Football Clinic. Proceeds raised from the silent auction and raffle will go the Petrino Family Foundation, which provides funds to Kosair Children’s Hospital and other local charities. Come join us for a day of learning about football and experiencing what the players do on game day.

    This month’s topic, “Islamophobia: How it’s impacting individuals, families and communities,” will be presented by Muhammad Babar, MD, who serves as medical director of Oaklawn Healthcare, Signature at Jefferson Place and Summerfield Healthcare Center rehab facilities. He is President of the Pakistani American Alliance for Compassion and Education, board member of the Center for Interfaith Relations, and member of the 2014-15 Leadership Louisville class.     The Office of the Provost and Delphi Center for Teaching and Learning invite you to the inaugural Seminar on Teaching for New Faculty Showcase and Reception. This special event will celebrate and recognize the outstanding work of faculty who have completed the yearlong seminar. Each of the 11 faculty participants will present a 5-minute lightning talk on a topic related to their teaching. This is a valuable opportunity for new faculty, department chairs, and faculty mentors to learn more about the seminar and ways to support faculty success.
