Smoking cessation classes use the Cooper-Clayton Method, a comprehensive behavioral smoking cessation program that was started more than 20 years ago by Thomas Cooper, DDS, a dentist and former heavy smoker, and Richard Clayton, PhD, an expert on drug addiction. This highly successful program is science-based and uses proven methods including education, skills training, and social support.

7.) Mindfulness without the Woo Woo

Beyond simply decreasing your stress, this evidence-based KORU workshop will help you learn skills to find more satisfaction in your daily life. The course is designed to help you learn mindfulness through the practice of specific skills that calm and focus your mind and through the practice of meditation. If you are feeling pressured and stressed, or are just interested in learning a new skill that can enrich your life, these classes are for you. Beginners and experienced meditators welcome.

8.) Autism Awareness Proclamation signed by Governor
April 1, 1 p.m., Capitol Building, Frankfort
SB 185 creating the Advisory Council on Autism and the Office of Autism has now passed unanimously through both the House and Senate. The next step in the process is for the bill to go to the Governor for signature. On April 1, there will be a signing ceremony for SB 185 and an Autism Awareness Proclamation by the Governor.

April 4 and 5, 1-4 p.m., Ekstrom’s East Wing on the first floor
Ekstrom Library and UofL’s preferred credit union, the Commonwealth Credit Union, have partnered to have presentations about Identify Theft, Ways to Supplement Your Retirement, and you can also sign-up for a free Credit Report Review and Financial Counseling. UofL Students can play to win a grand prize $500, second place $300, and third place $200 by participating in Finding Money for College Student Scavenger Hunt.

13.) Green Tip: It’s Arbor Day – Plant a Tree
Louisville loses about 150 trees per day, but we can restore the urban forest with your help. Today is Kentucky’s Arbor Day and we’re celebrating UofL’s status as a Tree Campus USA while taking action. At 11 a.m. you can help us plant a sycamore north of the School of Music, along Cardinal Blvd. Then from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., stop by the Red Barn plaza to pick up a free, native redbud tree sapling to plant in your neighborhood while enjoying a free bike blender smoothie made with tree fruits and nuts.
