    DID YOU KNOW?

When you raise a glass at Churchill Downs this week, chances are the drink in your hand was made by a UofL Army ROTC Cadet volunteer working to fund programs for the upcoming year. The Cadets raise about $19,000 in three days during Derby week (“Thurby,” the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby) by volunteering in the assembly line that creates those famous Mint Juleps and Lilys, and also getting the beer iced and ready to be sold. Each day, 60 UofL Cadets work 12-hour shifts. They have done this for about 10 years and it is their only fundraiser – the money earned is enough to fund various activities throughout the year such as commissioning ceremonies and the Military Ball.

With advances in medical care, children affected by life-limiting conditions are now living well into adulthood. Phenotypic variability of genetic disorders has also resulted in adult-onset presentations of classic child neurologic conditions. It is our hope to shed light on common childhood neurologic sequelae that often persist into adulthood and also to discuss disorders that may at times present in adolescence or early adulthood.

Additional Information: All individuals are encouraged to participate. To request disability arrangements, please contact the Advances in Neurology 2015 Course Coordinator, Angela Thornton, at (502) 588-3650 at least 14 days prior to the date of this program. Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development fully complies with the legal requirements of the ADA and the rules and regulations thereof.
