    1.) Louisville Concert Band performance

    Free

    The Louisville Concert Band will perform a send-off concert in advance of an upcoming appearance at the Midwest Clinic International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference in Chicago. This adult band is comprised of many UofL alumni as well as other prominent musicians who live, teach and perform in the Louisville area. Frederick Speck, School of Music faculty member, directs the music ensemble.

    2.) Red Barn’s 44th Birthday Party

    5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Dec. 13, Red Barn

    Free; donations accepted

    Please join the Red Barn Alumni Association (RBAA) for the RBAA Red Barn Birthday Party at the Red Barn on Friday, Dec. 13, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free and donations will be accepted to benefit UofL students through the RBAA. Refreshments and beverages will be served. The program begins at 6 p.m. and will recognize the 2013 RBAA Mary Fay Rumford Unsung Heroes who are Ellen G. Eirk, Ellen and Dane Burton, Steve Brooks and the late Harry Bockman. Everyone is welcome.

    3.) UofL employees can use YMCAs during UofL Winter Break

    Dec. 23 through Jan. 1, YMCAs of Greater Louisville and Southern In.

    The YMCA and Get Healthy Now give UofL employees the gift of fitness over the winter break. To visit the Y, show your current UofL employee ID and a valid driver’s license. A spouse/qualifying adult, family member or out-of-town guest can join you for $5 per person, per day with picture ID. Remember, the GHN Wellness Center also will be open.     SharePoint will be offline during IT’s regular preventive maintenance period. Please note that other systems (e.g. Blackboard, email, instant messaging, PeopleSoft, ULink, data services, etc.) may be taken offline without notice.     5.) Kornhauser Library – Interlibrary Loan Requests

    Interlibrary Loan requests must be received by Dec. 20 to be processed before the UofL Holiday Break. Requests received after Dec. 20 will be processed in order of receipt beginning Jan. 2.

    6.) Distance Education E-Reserves

    The fall semester will wrap up soon, and January will be here before we know it. Distance Learning Library Services would like to notify distance education instructors that we can process E-Reserve requests for Spring 2014 classes.     8.) Now available — 2014 i2a Supporting Undergraduate Innovation grants process revised

    The i2a Steering Committee has revised the submission process for the sixth cycle of Supporting  Undergraduate Innovation (SUN) grant applications. The SUN grants will fund select proposals up to $4,000 submitted by the unit i2a Leadership Committee for consideration. Application materials are due on or before Tuesday, Jan. 21. For information about the revised i2a SUN Grant process please contact Cathy Bays or visit the i2a SUN Grant website.

    9.) Travel to Orlando with UofL Alumni

    UofL Alumni Association will offer several travel packages from Louisville to the Russell Athletic Bowl starting at $529 per person.
