UofL to commission 11 as U.S. Army officers

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Eleven University of Louisville students will be commissioned as officers May 12 during a ceremony prior to this weekend’s commencement activities.

    The eight men and three women, all part of UofL’s Army ROTC program, will be commissioned as second lieutenants and receive their active duty assignments. They will bring to 427 the total number of officers that UofL’s Army ROTC has commissioned in 35 years.

    The keynote speaker will be U.S. Brig. Gen. Brian Mennes, who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

    The ceremony is open to the public and begins at 9 a.m. in Middleton Auditorium, Strickler Hall.
