Planetarium fundraiser spotlights the moon

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium at the University of Louisville will celebrate all things lunar at an Oct. 19 fundraiser.

    The Moonshine Mash Bash will be from 6-9 p.m. at the planetarium, 106 W. Brandeis Ave. Tickets are $47 each, which includes admission, food and two drinks. All ages are invited to attend. Tickets are available at http://uoflalumni.org/moonshinemashbash.

    Attendees will be able to watch the planetarium’s new video exhibit on the moon’s formation and folklore. Guests may also explore the William G. Russell Meteorite Exhibit and the John Gernert Star Ball Exhibit. The Louisville Astronomical Society will have telescopes in the courtyard to view the moon, weather permitting.

    The event also features its own special cocktail made using Jeptha Creed Original Moonshine. The Jeptha Creed craft distillery in Shelby County is owned by UofL alumna Joyce Nethery.
