UofL’s Sustainability Council is one of four Louisville organizations to receive the commission’s Paula Nye Memorial Education Grant this year, said Justin Mog, assistant to the provost for sustainability initiatives.
Grant recipients were named Feb. 9 at Louisville’s Metro Development Center.
UofL will develop a class for people at local colleges, high schools and community organizations who want to become certified bike safety instructors, Mog said. Trainees will then be encouraged to offer classes throughout the city.
The grant also will pay for bike maps of UofL’s campuses that show cyclists how to ride safely and how to connect with city bike routes and public transit lines, he said.
