As a research university, UofL must encourage and nurture strong research, discovery, scholarship and creative activity in all of its academic disciplines, including the creativity of the arts and humanities, basic scholarly research and translational and applied research, Ramsey said.
The post will report to the president, as did the executive vice president for research. The duties that post previously had, however, will be expanded.
The EVPRI will be responsible for directing research administration and participating in policy development; ensuring the research strategic plan aligns with UofL’s 2020 Plan; and working with the provost, vice provosts for undergraduate and graduate affairs and with deans to lead the integration of research, discovery, scholarship and creative activity in educational programs throughout the university.
