Spring commencement is set for May 12 at the downtown KFC Yum! Center. Of the more than 3,200 students on track to graduate this semester, 2,000 plan to take part in commencement.

Due to the large number of graduates, there will be two ceremonies. Here’s the schedule:

  • 10 a.m.: College of Arts and Sciences, Kent School of Social Work, School of Dentistry, School of Interdisciplinary and Graduate Studies, Brandeis School of Law, School of Medicine and School of Nursing.
  • 2 p.m.: College of Business, College of Education and Human Development, J. B. Speed School of Engineering, School of Music and School of Public Health and Information Sciences.

On May 11 The School of Interdisciplinary and Graduate Studies will have a doctoral hooding ceremony. That event starts at 3 p.m. and will also be held at the KFC Yum! Center.

UofL Interim President Greg Postel will preside at both of the May 12 ceremonies. Student speakers will be Giovanni Ibrahim at the 10 a.m. ceremony and Jacqueline Brengelman at the 2 p.m. ceremony.

Ibrahim graduates from the School of Dentistry with a doctor of medicine degree in dentistry. The Egyptian native’s journey from dishwasher to doctor is an inspiring story.

Brengelman, a native of Midway, graduates from the School of Music with a degree in music education. She was also a drum major for the University of Louisville Cardinal Marching Band.

Students and their guests should enter the KFC Yum! Center through the entrance on Main Street between Second and Third streets. A full schedule is available online

For those who cannot make it to Louisville, the ceremonies will be livestreamed here
