The University of Louisville’s Kent School of Social Work is sponsoring the “My Future is Bright” event with Nativity Academy at St. Boniface, an independent Catholic middle school.

The Saturday morning sessions are open to all and geared to young people and adults such as educators, counselors and parents interested in their healthy development.

The conference will run from 9 a.m. to noon at Nativity Academy at St. Boniface, 529 E. Liberty St. There is no registration, and lunch is provided afterward.

Speakers will include Muriel Harris, UofL School of Public Health and Information Sciences, on public health and Ebola; Ciceley Bishop, Louisville Metro Community Services, on healthy relationships; Shawnise Miller, UofL Kent School of Social Work, on college career counseling; and Herlon Robinson, Passport Health Plan, on parenting adolescents.

Other local leaders will talk about how to help young people save money, make educational choices, express their feelings appropriately and navigate online communication wisely.
