During the event, Wise will discuss recent events in Ferguson, Missouri, in relation to race, white privilege and the public reaction. He will also discuss youth activism on racism in America.

Wise is the author of six books, including “Dear White America: Letter to a New Minority.” His new book, “The Culture of Cruelty: How America’s Elite Demonize the Poor, Valorize the Rich and Jeopardize the Future,” will be released next year.

He appears regularly on CNN and MSNBC to discuss race issues.

His talk, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the multipurpose room at the Student Activities Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the talk begins at 6 p.m.

Attendees at Monday’s event will also have the opportunity to participate in a NOH8 photo shoot before and after the speech.

The talk is presented by the Engaging Issues committee of the Student Activities Board, the Pan African Studies department, Philosophy department and the Office of the Vice Provost of Diversity and International Affairs.
