The UofL Alumni Association, College of Arts and Sciences and Kentucky Shakespeare are encouraging audience members to wear red to the free UofL Night at Shakespeare in the Park. Rinda Frye, a theatre arts professor emerita noted for her Shakespeare productions, will speak at 7:15 p.m. about the dramatist’s “Magical Metaphysical Theater” on the C. Douglas Ramey Amphitheater stage, where the Kentucky Shakespeare performance will follow at 8 p.m.
Matt Wallace, producing artistic director of Kentucky Shakespeare, directs the play about betrayal, loyalty and forgiveness set on a magical island after a mighty storm.
The 7-10:30 p.m. “red-out” event is free but registration is encouraged at http://uoflalumni.org/shakespeare to be automatically entered for prize drawings.
Seating on benches is first come, first served, but patrons also are allowed to bring chairs and blankets. Food and beverages are available for purchase at Shakespeare in Central Park events. The Old Louisville park is at 1340 S. Fourth St.; parking is available along the bordering Fourth, Magnolia, Sixth and Park streets.
