    DID YOU KNOW

    Several UofL scholars have been awarded prominent scholarships that enable them to travel abroad to conduct research, teach or earn an advanced degree. The scholars will gain unique learning experiences that range from helping health care workers in Uganda to examining subtypes of breast cancer in Norway.

    UofL employees Niki King Jones, Shavon Wagner and Dillon Miles graduated last week from the Fund for the Arts NeXt program, a nationally recognized, 10-month program dedicated to preparing emerging professionals for leadership roles within the arts community.

    Traffic/parking updates for U2 concert Friday

    June 16, Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium
    U2: The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 will take place Friday at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Parking lots will open at 2 p.m. Stadium gates will open at 5 p.m. The concert will start at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early. Traffic patterns will be similar to home football games.  Parking is $20 for cars and $50 for RVs, buses and limos. Please pay attention to the parking staff upon entry as all vehicles will be directed where to park by parking staff. Also, there will be an enhanced security check upon entry to the stadium so please allow for extra time.

    Cards Under the Stars featuring ‘The Lego Batman Movie’ is June 30

    June 30, Activities begin at 6:30 p.m., movie begins at dark; Natural Sciences Lawn; Free
    UofL’s free summer family movie series returns with “The Lego Batman Movie.” Pre-movie activities include children’s inflatables and games, and appearances by the Louisville League of Mascots and Lego Batman. The J.B. Speed School of Engineering will host a demonstration table featuring Lego robotics. The school will also give away one 2018 Speed School Lego Camp scholarship to a child in attendance. Concessions will be available for purchase from 502 Café, SnoWhat Snoballs and Get In Your Belly Deli. Families are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs.

    Paid healthy participants needed for study

    UofL Caregiver Stress Study is looking for healthy European-American/White women, ages 18 to 35, who have NOT provided care for an ill friend or family member in the last year to fill out a questionnaire and provide saliva samples for up to 2 different time points. Each visit takes approximately 1 hour or less. We are offering $20 compensation for each visit. Appointments are held at the end of the work day on the Belknap Campus at 4 p.m. IRB#13.0135
